When establishing the CA Jail Outreach organization, I understood the significance of having a strong spiritual foundation. I felt compelled to seek a divine calling from God to guide me in this endeavor. This led me to engage in prayers, meditation sessions, and thorough research to understand what the Bible teaches about God's calling.
Through my dedicated studies and heartfelt prayers, I encountered profound insights within the Word of God that resonated deeply with me. I discovered a sense of purpose and clarity that fueled my passion for initiating this outreach program. The wisdom and guidance I found in scripture gave me the strength and conviction to move forward with this mission.

During my visit to the Billy Graham Library years ago, I stumbled upon a quote that deeply resonated with me: “God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.” It struck a chord as I've often played a supporting role, soaking up invaluable lessons.
This year, I feel inspired to embrace a more active role in my spiritual journey. While I can't identify the exact reason for this calling, it may be that I have refined my skills to align with God's standards, that God is pleased with my personal challenges, or that the time has simply arrived. I am confident that the Bible reveals six distinct types of calling. Allow me to share this inspiring message with you.
1. **The Damascus Road Call**: This call is marked by a clear sign, miraculous event, or a powerful manifestation of God’s voice, leading to a life-changing transformation and a renewed sense of purpose.
2. **The Progressive Call**: A common form of calling today, it unfolds gradually, guiding you to realize that full-time ministry is your vocation. Embracing this purpose requires patience, discernment, and trust in God's plan. I deeply resonate with the Progressive Call, a journey that unfolds gradually and may take years to reveal the path to my true vocation in full-time ministry.
3. **The Call From Birth**: Some individuals feel their calling to ministry from an early age, fully accepting it without hesitation. This lifelong commitment echoes the stories of prophets like Jeremiah and Samuel, demonstrating that a profound sense of purpose can shape one's identity from the very beginning.
4. **The Set-Apart-By-The-Church Call**: God often speaks through the Church community, affirming one's gifts and talents. This communal discernment fosters a deep sense of belonging and purpose, reinforcing our connection to the faith.
5. **The Open Door Call**: Unexpected opportunities arise, leading to a lifelong dedication to ministry. A transformative experience, like a mission trip, can ignite the call to become a full-time missionary, urging you to step boldly into a life of service.
6. **The Jonah Calling**: When resistance arises, it’s often a sign that you are hiding from God, hesitant to embrace your calling. God intervenes to guide you back to your purpose of the calling. This calling reminds us that God's plans cannot be thwarted; even in doubt, His will ultimately prevail, teaching us to surrender to His wisdom and trust the journey ahead.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it has blessed you. When someone asked me, “I don’t have a calling yet. What should I do?” I encouraged them to join an organization and share their unique skills through volunteering.
